Right, here's my "What are my chances" post. I'll make it strait to the point.
I'm a Wisconsin resident and plan on doing an early admit application to the University of Wisconsin, Madison:
MCAT: 31 (12PS, 9 VR, 10BS, writing = M)
G.P.A: 3.40 (3.45 Science GPA)
- Shadowed surgeons and urgent care docs for one summer
- Spent a summer doing research in Milwaukee
- Spent 250 hours volunteering in a hospital during High school, spent another ~100 hours during college
- Attending St. Norbert College (one of the Midwest's top 3 for private schools)
- Member of the honors program.
- President of the Pre-Health Sciences club
- Secretary of the Biology club
- Should have great LOR's, I'm a TA and close friend of two profs, also spent a semester in Indep. Study with one of them
My last ace in the whole is the fact that I have two brothers currently attending Madison. One is an M3 and one is an M2. Ironically, one of them is a permanent on the interview panel.
In short, my MCAT seems solid, but my GPA is appalling! Madison's average is a 32 MCAT and a 3.7 GPA. However I think that's an average that counts out of state applicants. Do you think I have a chance being in an honors program, and being an instate doing early admit?
I also have no idea how having siblings currently attending affects my chances. I suppose it would help a little, but enough to make up for having a GPA as low as mine?
