Senate Bill 798 deletes the requirement for the Medical Board of California to approve International Medical Schools.
The Board will no longer approve medical schools. Effective January 1, 2020, an International Medical School will meet the Board’s educational requirements if the medical school is listed on the World Federation for Medical Education and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research World Directory of Medical Schools joint director of the World Directory of Medical Schools. To apply for licensure, all medical school graduates will be required to have completed at least three-years of ACGME/RCPSC-accredited Postgraduate Training.
