I'm looking to participate in a high school epidemiology competition known as YES (Youth Epidemiology Scholars), in which the objective is to produce a research paper on an epidemic affecting the world today and propose a possible solution. I have a few potential mentors who said they were impressed with my possible topics for the competition, but would be more inclined to act as my mentor if I made topics surrounding their areas of research. Two of my possible mentors are Dr. Gordon Saxe and Dr. Joseph Vinetz. Dr. Saxe's current research revolves around the effects of diet and stress reduction on prostate cancer, and Dr. Vinetz specializes in infectious disease, particularly malaria. Would any of you be willing to suggest possible epidemiological topics I could use as a starting point for these two areas of research? Thank you very much!
